(BASED ON LEGACY OF AL-FARABI, WHOSE 1150th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY, IS CELEBRATED BY UNESCO THROUGHOUT 2020)
MAIN TOPIC:
THE LEGACY OF THE GREAT MEDIEVAL SCIENTIST AND PHILOSOPHER ABU NASR AL FARABI ((870 AD – 950 AD)
Some of the points which you may wish to consider are:
- Academic contribution
- Al-Farabi thoughts and vision on world order; human beings; society and state etc.)
SUB-TOPIC 1
Connectivity and interlinkages between humanistic ideas and legacy of Al-Farabi and Nelson Mandela
SUB-TOPIC 2
A brief introduction to modern-day Kazakhstan and its history
SUB-TOPIC 3
Central and Southern Asia as one of the valuable centers of civilization.
You may wish to discuss:
- Prominent scholars of medieval renaissance
- Interesting historical facts inter alia, this region as the homeland for apples and tulips; horse domestication which began in this part of the world etc.)
NOTE: Reflecting all the above sub-topics in your essay is optional. However discussing those sub-topics in your essay may increase your total marks.
The rules of the competition are as follows:
- The participant should write an essay between 1200– 3000 words.
(2.5 pages +). Word count must be included at the end of essay. The essay
may be written in either English or Arabic.
- The competition will end by 31st of October 2020.

- A maximum of 3 essays per school maybe submitted.
- The Judge’s decision is final and binding.
- All Judges are external and not affiliated to any school.
- The Embassy of Kazakhstan will provide the link for the electronic book
about Abu Nasr Al Farabi in English and Arabic to all participants.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation from The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
